A 24-year-old man faces numerous charges after a suspect wearing a face mask and brandishing what appeared to be a weapon confronted two Carleton University special constables shortly before 4 . Sunday.
A replica firearm was later located and seized in Brewer Park, across Bronson Avenue from the campus.
A Carleton University spokesman said students and staff were not endangered in the confrontation. However, one of the special constables sustained minor injuries.
“At no time was the individual a threat to the safety of students, faculty or staff,” said Steven Reid. “The incident was over in a few minutes.”
Myles Fernandes has been charged with two counts of pointing a firearm, two counts of uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He appeared in court Sunday morning and remained in custody.
